Alexis Diner has a long and interesting history, starting with Alex Stavros. A native of Greece, Alex first came to America to pursue electrical engineering—but he soon found his passion for the restaurant industry! He built himself from the ground up, learning English as he learned his cooking skills. He and his wife, Teddi, first bought the Lackawanna Diner in Morristown, starting a process of buying, revamping, and selling diners and restaurants until they found the perfect fit in Denville! The Alexis Diner opened in 1990, premiering as a first-class diner. It has been called the best diner in NJ by the Star Ledger, and has remained successful for 27 years! The Alexis Diner got a full makeover in 2017, and while the owners missed their loyal customers greatly during the few weeks they were closed, they are so pleased with the new look and updated style!
Today, Alexis Diner is a prominent feature in Denville. The diner was voted Morris County’s Favorite Diner, and for good reason! The Alexis Diner staff prides themselves on serving the best food, with a giant menu, great customer service, and reasonable prices. They give back to the community, regularly supporting charitable causes and serving Thanksgiving Dinner each year and sending the proceeds to St. Peter’s Orphanage. While the owners of the Alexis Diner love the classic diner atmosphere, they don’t sacrifice on cleanliness or food options at this first-class establishment—enjoy gluten-free, sugar-free, vegetarian, and vegan dishes alongside classic diner fare.
